To view a list of all committee chairs listed below, please view our Leadership Page

Admission Practices

The AP committee educates the membership on the Code of Ethics and Professional Practices (CEPP) and ethical issues involved in college counseling. The chairs of this committee handle all complaints concerning violations of the CEPP.

Annual Conference

The conference committee plans the GPACAC Annual Conference held every April and on a biennial basis works with MOACAC on a shared conference. The chairs are responsible for organizing committee members into sub-committees including: Registration, Hospitality + Outreach, Programming, Marketing + Communication, Social, On-Site, and Vendors + Exhibitors.

College Fairs

This committee develops an annual college fair calendar for 3 fairs in the member states (Overland Park, KS; Wichita, KS; and Tulsa, OK). Each site chair coordinates the local arrangements for the fair.

The communications committee is in charge of all publications and outreach of the association, including newsletters, brochures, and conference programs.  GPACAC publishes an electronic newsletter which features articles on organizational activities, professional development, and legislative concerns.

Governance & Nominating

This committee works closely with the Past-President, finding and representing a slate of officers to be approved at the annual conference.  The committee also solicits nominations and selects yearly award recipients.

Government Relations

This committee leads the efforts of GPACAC in influencing public policy as well as keeping all members informed of issues concerning our educational system.

Inclusion, Access, and Success Committee

The Inclusion, Access, and Success committee promotes, advocates, and communicates on the issues of diversity, equity, and access, ensuring equal access to post-secondary education opportunities in Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma. This committee assists in planning inclusion and access workshops and professional development.

The membership committee helps expand and promote membership in our three states.  In addition, they manage the database and keep an accurate record of the association’s membership.

Professional Development

The role of the professional development committee is to implement professional development programs and workshops for members and non-members. The professional development committee is comprised of the two State Coordinators from each state representing the high school and college side.

Scholarship & Grants

The scholarships and grants committee awards college scholarships to students and conference grants to counselors. Face to face meetings are not required. Committee members will review scholarship applications in March and usually does not require more than 5 hours. Grant applications are reviewed as needed prior to regional and national conferences.

The technology committee updates the GPACAC website, creates online forms, maintains the e-list, and oversees all social media related to GPACAC. The role of the technology committee is to see that the image/identity of GPACAC reaches its entire constituency of Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Get Involved

“I consider myself lucky to be a member of GPACAC. Not only have I learned from my colleagues on both sides of the desk, but I got involved and it forced me out of my comfort zone. I held offices in GPACAC and served on NACAC committees. Some of my closest friends I met through my involvement and I have colleagues I can contact for ideas and help. Belonging to GPACAC is one of my greatest experiences in college counseling.”

– Maureen Lawler, College Counselor, Bishop Kelley High School (OK)
